Catering Supervisor is the post in Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas, which comes under Navodya Vidyalaya Samiti. About EMRS

The Eklavya Model Residential Schools (EMRS) are a Government of India initiative providing quality education to tribal children across the country. EMRS comes under Ministry of Tribal Affairs, Government of India. It has total 740 schools under its approval. Presently, EMRS has not published its syllabus for Catering Assistant post.

    • Category A: Postgraduate in Hospitality/Tourism or MBA from a recognized University/Institute, along with a full-time degree/diploma in Hotel Administration/Hospitality Management/Culinary Arts/Culinary Science with a minimum of 55% marks or equivalent grade.
    • Desirable Qualification: PhD degree, six months working experience in a 3-star or above category hotel. Mandatory qualification: Qualified NHTET with prescribed percentage, conducted by NCHMCT.
    • Category B: Full-time Bachelor’s Degree in Hospitality/Hotel Administration/Hotel Management/Culinary Art with at least 55% marks, along with a minimum of 2 years of hospitality industry experience. Mandatory qualification: Qualified NHTET with prescribed percentage, conducted by NCHMCT.
    • Common Clauses for Category A & B: Period of service as a teacher at UG and above level of Hospitality on a contract basis shall be reckoned as valid experience. Those holding a PhD degree in Hospitality related subjects need not qualify NHTET.
  2. Applicability to Promotees: Age and educational qualifications prescribed for direct recruits will not apply in the case of promotees.
  3. Eligibility for Promotion: Not Applicable

  1. Candidates must meet the minimum requirement of either being NHTET qualified or having a Ph.D. in a Hospitality topic. NHTET-qualified candidates will receive a score based on their exam performance, while those with a Ph.D. will have a different calculation.
  2. Final selection will occur at the Institute Level through Skill tests for both NHTET qualified and Ph.D. degree holders. Skill test carries 50 marks, with up to 50 marks available for NHTET or Ph.D. candidates.
  3. Similarly, the Practical Skill Test will cover all four core areas of Hospitality, with each practical segment scored out of 7 to 8 marks, totaling 30 marks.
  4. Also, candidates must achieve pass marks separately in both the Practical Skill and Teaching Skill tests. Merely qualifying NHTET with the prescribed percentage or having a Ph.D. degree will not guarantee selection without obtaining pass marks in the Skill tests.

(b) Preference will be given to candidates with at least 1 year of work experience in a government or private institution as a catering supervisor. In government institutions, this experience must be from an establishment under the government, autonomous bodies, or departments controlled by the government. In private institutions, the establishment must be a hotel or restaurant rated by the Hotel and Restaurant Approval and Classification Committee (H.R.A.C.C) with a star rating.

Desirable Qualification:

In the case of otherwise equal qualifications, preference in direct recruitment will be given to candidates who:

(A) Hospitality Assistant
